State Housing Authority Broker Progam Looking to Expand - 10/22/2003

[Columbia, SC] The State Housing Finance and Development Authority will hold three receptions across the state announcing the Agency’s new Broker Partnership program and recruiting additional brokers interested in becoming approved lenders for the Agency.


The Public-Private Broker Partnership Initiative, initially introduced as a Pilot Program in June of this year, gives approved brokers the ability to offer the Authority’s below market interest rates and down payment assistance programs to potential homebuyers in the more rural areas of the state. This program also provides South Carolinians a more convenient way to apply for a State Housing mortgage.

The receptions are scheduled in the following locations on the dates and times listed.

These receptions will be hosted by the three Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) companies currently participating in this initiative. They are: Republic Mortgage Insurance Company “RMIC,” TRIAD Guaranty Insurance, and United Guaranty Insurance Company “UG.”

The minimum requirements for organizations interested in becoming a part of the broker program include: Company must have been in business for a minimum of five years, the company must be able to close loans in its own name (Table fund and transfer to SHA at closing), and it must pass a SLED and credit check.
