Over $260,000 in Housing Trust Fund Awards Made by Housing Authority - 2/20/2002
The Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority recently approved $269,734.79 in Trust Fund awards at their regular monthly meeting. These awards are for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and/or construction of 15 properties throughout Orangeburg, Sumter, Laurens, Williamsburg, Spartanburg, Greenville, Richland, and Lee counties.
The awards are as follows:
Claflin College Community Development Corporation (CDC) - $17,557 for the acquisition of a three-bedroom house in Orangeburg to be occupied by a very low-income individual at or below 50 percent of the county median income.
Midlands Development Group - $18,300 for the acquisition of a two-bedroom house in Laurens and $19,607.50 for the rehabilitation of two 3-bedroom houses in Eastover and Hopkins. Very low-income elderly individuals will occupy these homes.
Community Assistance Provider, Inc. - $20,000 for the construction of a five-bedroom house in Kingstree for very low-income elderly individuals. An award of $14,150 was also made for the rehabilitation of a two-bedroom home and a three-bedroom home in Lane to be occupied by very low-income elderly individuals.
Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County - $41,696 for the construction of four 3 and 4 bedroom houses in Greenville, $20,000 for the construction of a three-bedroom house in Travelers Rest, and $40,000 for the construction of a four bedroom house and a three-bedroom house in Greer. Very low-income families will occupy these homes.
Spartanburg Residential Development Corporation - $16,500 for the construction of a three-bedroom house in Roebuck for a lower-income family above 50 percent but below 80 percent of the county median income.
Sumter County CDC - $18,245 for the rehabilitation of two 4-bedroom houses in Mayesville for lower-income elderly families, $21,276 for the rehabilitation of a three-bedroom and two-bedroom house in Rembert to house very low-income elderly individuals, $13,458.29 for the rehabilitation of two 3-bedroom houses in Camden to be occupied by very low-income elderly individuals, and $8,945 for the rehabilitation of a three-bedroom house in Wedgefield to be occupied by a very low-income elderly individual.
Proceeds awarded by the Trust Fund cannot exceed approximately 50 percent of the total development cost of the project and can only be used to serve households that are at or below 80 percent of the county median income.
