Home Buyer Education Sessions to be Held Throughout State - 8/28/2002
[Columbia, SC] In observance of Homeownership Week in June of this year, the South Carolina Partners in Homeownership offered First-Time Home Buyer Education Seminars in several locations. These education seminars, held in Richland, Greenwood, Horry, Dorchester, Berkeley, Charleston, Kershaw and Lee counties, were so successful, they are being continued to cover each of the states six congressional districts.
These sessions are designed to educate, inform and increase awareness on the availability of affordable housing opportunities. They are targeted toward underserved populations including African-American, Hispanics, Latinos, and those living in rural areas.

The home buyer classes are taught by certified home buyer education instructors and are free and open to the public. Subjects include the basics of the home buying process, credit, home maintenance and repair, and other issues relating to purchasing a first home. The South Carolina Partners in Homeownership is a partnership of over 40 agencies, organizations, and businesses working together to expand affordable housing opportunities in South Carolina. The State Housing Authority has served as the lead agency for the Partnership since its inception in 1996.
Additional sessions will be scheduled throughout the state at a later date. Some classes will be offered in Spanish as well as English.
