Call for Entries: South Carolina Housing Achievement Awards - 9/4/1998
The South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority is accepting nominations for its South Carolina Housing Achievement Awards program. These awards are presented annually to recognize outstanding contributions in the area of affordable housing for low and moderate income South Carolinians.
Nominations will be accepted in any of seven categories: Public Sector, Private Sector, Housing Development, Elected Officials, Volunteer, Individual Initiative, and Creative Partnerships. Nominees must have been instrumental in creating or supporting affordable housing, implementing housing-related programs, or assisting others in solving housing problems. Any group or individual may submit one or more nominations. All work honored must have been performed in South Carolina to benefit the citizens of the Palmetto state.
"These awards give us an opportunity to recognize the people and organizations who work with us to make affordable housing possible in our state," said Authority Board chairman Gene Spivey. "It is through these efforts that many of the citizens of our state now live in safe, decent, and affordable housing," he added.
Entries should be in the form of a one-page letter stating why the nominee should receive the award. The nomination must include the category and the name, address, and daytime telephone number of the group or person submitting the entry. There is no nomination entry fee. Supporting documentation, such as photographs or testimonials, may be submitted, but cannot be returned. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, September 17, 1998.
