Housing Authority Awards Over $4.25 Million in Trust Fund Monies - 1/29/2005
[Columbia, SC] The Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority recently approved $4,260,954.06 in Trust Fund awards at their regular monthly meeting. These awards are for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and/or construction of 31 properties throughout Pickens, Abbeville, Charleston, Williamsburg, Clarendon, Richland, Florence, Orangeburg, Greenwood, Georgetown, Beaufort, Kershaw, Sumter, Lee, Dorchester, York, Marlboro, Barnwell, Colleton, Berkeley, Spartanburg, Jasper, Allendale, and Aiken counties.
The awards are as follows:
Charleston Bank Consortium $272,500 for the construction of 15 homes in Charleston County to house lower income families at or below 80 percent of the county median income.
Community Assistance Provider, Inc. $57,500 for the acquisition of five homes located in Williamsburg, Clarendon, and Richland counties to be occupied by lower income families.
Dorchester Habitat for Humanity $10,750 for the construction of a three-bedroom home located in Summerville for a very low-income family at or below 50 percent of the county median income.
East Cooper Habitat f or Humanity $87,276.83 for the construction five homes located in Mt. Pleasant to house lower income families.
Eastern Carolina Community Development Corporation (CDC) $251,039 for the rehabilitation of 15 homes in Florence County to be occupied by very low income families.
Edisto Habitat for Humanity, Inc. $37,789.38 for the construction of four homes in Orangeburg to house very low-income families.
Greenwood Area Habitat for Humanity $49,187.16 for the construction of six homes located in Greenwood to be occupied by very low-income families.
Habitat for Humanity of Georgetown County $69,000 for the construction of six homes located in Georgetown County for very low-income families.
Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity $27,858 for the construction of 13 homes in Beaufort and Bluffton to house lower income families.
Lowcountry Community Development Corporation (CDC) $269,500 for the construction of 13 homes located in Beaufort and Hilton Head for lower income families.
Lowcountry Housing & Economic Development Foundation, Inc. $219,023.25 for the construction and acquisition of 15 homes located in Awendaw and James Island to house lower income families.
Santee-Lynches Affordable Housing & CDC $46,000 for the acquisition of four homes located in Clarendon, Sumter, and Kershaw counties to be occupied by lower income families.
Sea Island Habitat for Humanity $129,000 for the acquisition of six homes on Johns Island to house lower income families.
Southeastern Housing Foundation $114,387 for the acquisition of ten homes in Orangeburg, Barnwell, Colleton, and Berkeley counties for lower income families.
Spartanburg Residential Development Corporation $80,500 for the construction of seven homes in Spartanburg to be occupied by lower income families.
Williamsburg Enterprise Community Commission, Inc. $103,500 for the acquisition and construction of nine homes in Kingstree for lower income families.
Northeastern Corridor of Orangeburg CDC $100,000 for the acquisition of 15 homes located in Orangeburg to house lower income families.
Beaufort-Jasper Economic Opportunity Commission (EOC), Inc. $287,500 for the rehabilitation of 18 homes in Beaufort and Jasper counties to be occupied by very-low income families.
Camden First Community Development Corporation (CDC) $227,574.65 for the rehabilitation of 21 homes in Camden to be occupied by very low-income families.
Carolina Communities Foundation, Inc. $240,399 for the rehabilitation of 15 homes in Allendale, Barnwell, Aiken, Orangeburg, Calhoun, and Bamberg counties to be occupied by very low-income families.
Community Development & Improvement Corporation $16,617.50 for the rehabilitation of a three-bedroom home and $91,610 for the rehabilitation of a 24 bedroom shelter. These properties, located in Aiken, will house very low-income families.
Community Development Corporation of Marlboro County $186,769.54 for the rehabilitation of 15 homes in Marlboro County to be occupied by very low-income families.
Fort Mill Housing Services, Inc. $86,250 for the rehabilitation of five homes in Fort Mill for very low income families.
Lynchburg Community Development Corporation (CDC) $278,250 for the rehabilitation of 18 homes in Lynchburg to house very low-income elderly families.
Northeastern Corridor of Orangeburg CDC $246,614.05 for the rehabilitation of 18 homes located in Orangeburg to be occupied by very low-income families.
Preservation Trust of Spartanburg, Inc. $77,705.50 for the rehabilitation of five homes in Spartanburg for very low-income families.
Waccamaw Regional Council of Government $180,550 for the rehabilitation of 12 homes located in Georgetown to house very low income families.
Northeastern Corridor of Orangeburg, SC $100,000 for the acquisition of 15 homes located in Orangeburg to be occupied by low income families.
A Place for Us Ministries, Inc. $172,500 for the construction of a five-bedroom home located in Abbeville to be occupied by very low income special needs individuals.
Dorchester Interfaith Outreach Ministries, Inc. $150,000 for the construction of an eight-bedroom shelter in Summerville to house very low income families.
The ARC of Pickens County $75,000 for the acquisition and rehabilitation of a four-bedroom home in Easley to be occupied by very low income disabled individuals.
Capital for the Housing Trust Fund is generated by the documentary stamp tax. Proceeds awarded by the Trust Fund cannot exceed approximately 50 percent of the total development cost of the project and can only be used to serve households that are at or below 80 percent of the county median income.
