Housing Authority Announces Over $5.5 in Trust Fund Awards - 7/19/2006

[Columbia, SC] The Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority recently approved $5,588,868 in Trust Fund awards at their recent meeting. These awards are for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and/or construction of 34 properties throughout Charleston, Richland, Spartanburg, Greenville, Kershaw, Orangeburg, Greenwood, Kershaw, York, Florence, Clarendon, Berkeley, Dorchester, Saluda, Lexington, Laurens, Newberry, Fairfield, Abbeville, Beaufort, Barnwell, Cherokee, Marlboro, and Anderson counties.
 The awards are as follows:
Homeownership-Block Grants
Habitat for Humanity of Kershaw County - $20,000 for the acquisition of two homes located in Kershaw County.
Pickens County Habitat for Humanity - $57,500 to assist five families in purchasing homes in Pickens County.
Charleston Are Community Development Corporation - $153,500 to assist nine families in purchasing their own homes to be located in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties.
OIKOS Community Development, Inc. - $46,000 to assist four families in purchasing their own homes to be located in Saluda, Lexington, Richland, and Laurens counties.
Soteria World Outreach Ministries - $47,000 for the acquisition of 10 homes to be located in Greenville County.
Dorchester Habitat for Humanity - $58,750 to assist five families in purchasing their own homes to be located in Dorchester County.
Sea Island Habitat for Humanity - $160,000 to assist eight families in purchasing their own home to be located in Beaufort County.
Homeownership Block Grant awards are limited to low income households at or below 80 percent of the area median income.

Ames Road Community Education and Housing Development Organization - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of seven houses located in Fairfield and Saluda counties.
Blackville Community Development Corporation (CDC) - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of seven homes to be located in Barnwell County.
OKIOS Community Development, Inc. - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of seven homes located in Lexington County.
Home Rehabilitation of Cherokee County - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of seven homes located in Cherokee County.
Community Development Corporation of Marlboro County - $86,250 for the rehabilitation of five homes located in Marlboro County.
Spartanburg Housing Authority - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of seven homes located in Spartanburg County.
Spartanburg Leased Housing Corporation - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of seven homes located in Spartanburg County.
Scott’s Branch 76 Foundation - $46,000 for the rehabilitation of four homes located in Clarendon and Orangeburg counties.
Preservation Trust of Spartanburg, Inc. - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of seven homes located in Spartanburg County.
Spartanburg Housing Authority Development, Inc. - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of seven houses in Spartanburg County.
Morningside Community Development Association, Inc. - $122,500 for the rehabilitation of seven homes located in Anderson County.
Carolina Communities Foundation, Inc. - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of seven homes located in Barnwell County.
Metanoia Community Development Corporation - $46,000 for there rehabilitation of three homes located in Charleston County.
United Methodist Relief Center - $120,750 for the rehabilitation of eight homes located in Charleston County.
Owner occupied rehabilitation block grants are limited to very low income households at or below 50 percent of the county median income.
Supportive Housing
Charleston Bank Consortium - $218,500 for the rehabilitation of an existing property located in Charleston County to house homeless women with children at or below 50 percent of the county median income.
Rental Housing
Lowcountry Housing & Redevelopment Corporation - $300,000 for the construction of six scattered site single family rental units located in Beaufort County.
Pee Dee Housing Development Corporation - $265,450 for the construction of eight units to be located in Florence County to house disabled clients.
Allen Temple Community Economic Development Corporation - $400,000 for the construction of eight units of housing located in Greenville County.
Clover Home I, LLC - $300,000 for the construction of 10 units of housing to be located in York County.
Clover Home II, LLC - $300,000 for the construction of 10 units of housing to be located in York County.
Clover Home III, LLC - $300,000 for the construction of 10 units of housing to be located in York County.
Antioch Housing Corporation - $270,000 for the construction of six units to be located in Greenville County.
Homes of Hope, Inc. - $481,155 for the construction of 12 units to be located in Greenville County to house homeless individuals.
Growing Home Southeast, Inc. - $300,000 for the construction of 12 units of housing located in Richland County to be occupied by homeless individuals.
Greenwood Mental Health Association, Inc. - $116,168 for the construction of eight units of housing for disabled individuals.
Upstate Homeless Coalition of South Carolina - $286, 595 for the construction of five units to house homeless individuals.
Rental Housing awards are limited to low income households at or below 80 percent of the area median income.
 Capital for the Housing Trust Fund is generated by the documentary stamp tax. Proceeds can only be used to serve households at or below 80 percent of the area median income and cannot exceed approximately 50 percent of the total development cost of the project.
