State Housing Authority Announces Lender and Broker Awards - 2/1/2007
[Columbia, SC] The South Carolina State Housing Authority recognized five outstanding lenders and brokers across the state at the Palmetto Housing Forum held January 31st and February 1st, 2007 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
Overall there were approximately 120 lenders and brokers competing for these awards. The awards are given based on criteria including overall production, underwriting quality, delinquency, foreclosure rates, and other pertinent information relating to the financial institutions.
The Large Lender of the Year award was received by First Citizens Bank. First Citizens is one of our oldest statewide lenders and works hard at becoming a premier bank by putting customers first. First Citizens Bank made over $8.8 million in State Housing mortgage loans last year.
The Small Lender of the Year award was given to Sentry Bank and Trust. This lender was awarded the award due to t he high quality of loans sent to the Authority. Their loan volume for 2006 exceeded $1.6 million which was a 150 percent increase over 2005.
The Large Broker of the Year award was given to Citizens First Mortgage. This outstanding mortgage broker brought more than $9.2 million in new homeowner loans to the state last year.
Schmidt Mortgage received the Small Broker of the Year award. Since 2001 this local independent mortgage company has created a significant state-wide presence and is one of the local leaders in home loans. Last year, Schmidt Mortgage provided over $2.6 million in State Housing mortgages.
The Lender/Broker of the Year award is given to the institution that was most outstanding overall in production and quality of loans. This award was received by Hanover Mortgage, who made over $15 million in mortgages last year, the highest production figures of all our approved lenders and brokers for 2006. This outstanding $12 million in loans last year.
