State Housing Authority Announces Lender and Broker Awards - 3/3/2005
[Columbia, SC] The South Carolina State Housing Authority recognized five outstanding lenders and brokers across the state at the Palmetto Housing Forum held recently in Columbia.
Overall there were 120 lenders and brokers competing for these awards. The awards are given based on criteria including overall production, underwriting quality, delinquency, foreclosure rates, and other pertinent information relating to the financial institutions.
The Small Lender of the Year award was given to First Reliance Bank of Florence. Founded in 1999, it is one of the fastest growing banks in the southeast. First Reliance Bank helped homebuyers in Florence last year by providing over $4.4 million in loans.
Palmetto South Mortgage of Lexington and West Columbia received the Small Broker of the Year award. Since 2001 this local independent mortgage company has created a significant state-wide presence and is one of the local leaders in home loans. Last year, Palmetto South Mortgage provided over $2.6 million in State Housing mortgages.
The Large Lender of the Year award was received by Carolina First in Columbia. Created in 1986, Carolina First works hard at becoming a premier bank by putting customers first. Carolina First made over $5.7 million in State Housing mortgage loans last year.
The Large Broker of the Year award was given to Hanover Mortgage of Greenville. This outstanding mortgage broker brought more than $5.4 million in new homeowner loans to the upstate last year.
The Lender/Broker of the Year award is given to the institution that was most outstanding overall in production and quality of loans. This award was received by Homeowners Mortgage who made over $12 million in mortgages last year. This outstanding lender continues to lead the way in loan production and community outreach. This outstanding lender made over $12 million in loans in 2004.
