Governor Appoints Columbia Banker to State Housing Board - 10/24/2007
[Columbia, SC] Governor Mark Sanford has announced the appointment of Felicia Morant to the nine-member Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority.
Morant, a Columbia resident, has over 10 years experience in the banking business including consumer, small business, commercial lending, economic development and capital markets. She is Vice President of Capital Markets at AgFirst Farm Credit Bank, managing loan sales and trading. Morant is responsible for investing in corporate loan interests for the bank and its 23 shareholders comprised of agricultural credit associations located in 16 eastern U.S. states, including Puerto Rico. She was responsible for closing over $250 million in new loan commitments within the first six months of operating the trade desk.
“I am delighted that Governor Sanford has given me the opportunity to serve on the Board of the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority,” said Morant. “I look forward to working with my fellow board members and the housing professionals of the Authority in addressing the challenges of the affordable housing needs of our citizens,” she added.
Morant received her Bachelor of Science from the College of Charleston and completed the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Georgetown University. She is a candidate of the CFA Institute.
The Authority’s Board of Commissioners establishes policy for the independent agency and oversees its operations. Morant’s term will expire in August 2010.
The South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority is a self-supporting agency of state government and operates at no cost to the taxpayers of the state.
