Over $1 Million in Trust Fund Awards Made by State Housing Authority - 4/19/2005
[Columbia, SC] The Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority recently approved $1,032,017 in Trust Fund awards at their regular monthly meeting. These awards are for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and/or construction of 14 properties throughout Anderson, Greenville, Aiken, Clarendon, Cherokee, Spartanburg, Richland, Bamberg, Orangeburg, Jasper, Barnwell, Lee, and Sumter counties.
The awards are as follows:
Group Homes
Anderson County Department of Special Needs and Disabilities - $70,287 for the acquisition of a four-bedroom home located in Anderson County.
Greenville County Disabilities and Special Needs Board - $74,830 for the acquisition and rehabilitation of a four-bedroom home located in Greenville County.
Tri-Development Center of Aiken Center, Inc. - $68,893 for the acquisition and rehabilitation of a four-bedroom home in Aiken County.
Each of these homes will be occupied by very low income disabled individuals at or below 50 percent of the area median income.
Homeownership-Block Grants
Aiken County Habitat for Humanity - $30,750 for the construction of three homes located in Aiken County.
Community Development & Improvement Corporation - $50,000 for the acquisition of land for the construction of five homes located in Aiken County.
Homeownership Block Grant awards are limited to households at or below 80 percent of the area median income.
Rental Housing
Community Development & Improvement Corporation - $13,090 for the rehabilitation of a three bedroom home in Aiken County.
Rental Housing awards are limited to households at or below 80 percent of the area median income.
Owner-Occupied Block Grants
Clarendon County Community Development Corporation - $76,015 for the rehabilitation of five houses located in Clarendon County.
Home Rehabilitation of Cherokee County - $47,535 for the rehabilitation of three houses located in Cherokee County
Homes of Hope, Inc. - $66,547 for the rehabilitation of 8 mobile homes and houses located in Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson counties.
Masjid As-Salaam - $52,080 for the rehabilitation of four homes in Richland County.
ReGenesis Economic Development Organization - $57,418 for the rehabilitation of 8 homes in Spartanburg County.
Southeastern Housing Foundation - $56,421 for the Rehabilitation of four homes located in Bamberg, Orangeburg, Jasper, and Barnwell counties.
Sumter County Community Development Corporation - $221,692 for the rehabilitation of fifteen houses in Lee and Sumter counties.
Wateree Community Actions, Inc. - $146,459 for the rehabilitation of 10 homes in Sumter, Florence, and Marlboro counties.
Owner occupied rehabilitation block grants are limited to very low income households at or below 50 percent of the area median income.
Capital for the Housing Trust Fund is generated by the documentary stamp tax. Proceeds awarded by the Trust Fund cannot exceed approximately 50 percent of the total development cost of the project and can only be used to serve households at or below 80 percent of the area median income.
