Chester Native Receives Professional Certification - 10/10/2005
[Columbia, SC] Barbara Anderson, a native of Chester, recently received her credentials in the International Public Management Association of Human Resources –Certified Professional (IPMA-CP) program. She is the first human resources director in state government to receive the IPMA-CP certification.
Anderson has 21 years of human resources experience including management positions with the Budget and Control Board, Health and Human Services and currently as Human Resources Director for the South Carolina State Housing Authority.
This certification recognizes individuals for their broad knowledge and abilities in the Human Resources arena. To obtain this certification, a recipient must be the human resources director for an organization, have at least ten (10) years of human resource managerial experience, and have at least three (3) years of public sector human resources experience.
Anderson received her bachelor’s degree form Clemson University in Political Science and a graduate degree in Public Administration from the University of South Carolina. She served internships in London, England and with the office of Senator Strom Thurmond in Washington, D. C. She is a 1998 graduate of the Certified Public Manager Program and a 1999 graduate of the Executive Institute. Barbara is past president of International Public Managers Association- Human Resources (IPMA-HR) and serves on the board for the American Society of Public Administrators (ASPA). She currently serves on the statewide Grievance Committee.
Anderson is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James T. (Crack) Anderson.
