Governor Appoints Charleston Real Estate Professional to Housing Board - 8/18/2004
[Columbia, SC] Governor Mark Sanford has announced the appointment of Charleston businessman Christopher B. Fraser to the nine-member Board of Commissioners of the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority. Fraser replaces Andrew N. Theodore, whose term expired August 15, 2004.
Chris Fraser, Principal of barkley/fraser.com formed the company with Miles Barkley in the summer of 1989. The company specializes in commercial real estate development and leasing and uses the latest technologies to provide superior service to their clients. Fraser has approximately 20 years in the real estate arena previously serving as Broker-in-Charge with several companies in the Charleston area including The Brumley/McKinney Company, The Beach Company, and I’On Realty. In 1989, he received his CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation. Before he began his career in real estate, he served 8 years in the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power Program.

I have always wanted to expand my horizons to include affordable housing and now I have been given the chance,” said Fraser. “I feel that affordable housing and improving the lifestyles of our fellow South Carolinians is a subject that should be on the agenda of all housing professionals.”
Active in many professional and civic organizations, Fraser has served as Past President of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors, as a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business, and is currently a member of the South Carolina Association of Realtors and the Board of Directors of the Education Foundation.
The South Carolina State Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners establishes policy for the agency and oversees its operation. Fraser’s term will expire August 15, 2008.
