Housing Authority Board Approves $2 Million in Trust Fund Award - 8/23/2004

[Columbia, SC] The Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority recently approved $2,072,760.45 in Trust Fund awards at their regular monthly meeting. These awards are for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and/or construction of 17 properties throughout Charleston, Richland, Orangeburg, Beaufort, Kershaw, Cherokee, Oconee, Pickens, Marion, Lexington, Greenville, and York counties. 

The awards are as follows:

Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity - $20,000 for the construction of a three-bedroom home located in Beaufort to house a very low income at or below 50 percent of the county median income.

Oconee County Habitat for Humanity - $10,000 for the construction of a three-bedroom home in Westminster to house a very low income elderly family.

Pickens County Habitat for Humanity - $11,500 for the construction of a two-bedroom home located in Clemson to be occupied by a lower income family below 80 percent but above 50 percent of the county median income.

Eastern Carolina Community Development Corporation - $51,721.25 for the rehabilitation of three 3-bedroom homes located in Marion, Gresham, and Mullins to house lower income families.

Community Assistance Provider, Inc. - $23,000 for the acquisition of a three bedroom home in Charleston to be occupied by a very low income family.

Brookland-West Columbia Community & Housing Development Corporation - $252,644 for the rehabilitation of 19 homes located in Lexington County to house very low income families.

Camden First Community Development Corporation (CDC) - $12,506.25 for the rehabilitation of a three-bedroom home located in Bethune to be occupied by a lower income family.

Lowcountry Community Development Corporation (CDC) - $218,500 for the rehabilitation of 13 homes located in Beaufort and Hilton Head to house very low income families. 

Home Rehabilitation of Cherokee County - $`13, 796.36 for the rehabilitation of two 3-bedrrom homes and $7,977.09 for the rehabilitation of one 2-bedroom home. These homes located in Gaffney will be occupied by lower income families.

Homes of Hope, Inc. - $185,750 for the construction of 11 one-bedroom and 2 two-bedroom

apartments located in Greenville to house very low income mentally disabled individuals.

Hagins-Fewell Revitalization, Inc. - $499,000 for the construction of 10 multifamily rental units located ion Rock hill to be occupied by very low income individuals.

Marshall Estates Revitalization, LLC - $485,000 for the construction of eight apartments  located in Rock Hill to be occupied by very low income individuals.

East Bluff Community Organization - $282,865.50 for the rehabilitation of 22 homes located in Columbia, Orangeburg, Eastover and Cayce to house lower income families.

Capital for the Housing Trust Fund is generated by the documentary stamp tax. Proceeds awarded by the Trust Fund cannot exceed approximately 50 percent of the total development cost of the project and can only be used to serve households that are at or below 80 percent of the county median income.
