Housing Authority Approves Over $2.7 Million in Trust Fund Awards - 9/28/2004
[Columbia, SC] The Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority recently approved $2,789,747.40 in Trust Fund awards at their regular monthly meeting. These awards are for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and/or construction of 32 properties throughout Charleston, Richland, Orangeburg, Bamberg, Dorchester, Kershaw, Pickens, Beaufort, Marion, Florence, Clarendon, Sumter, Lancaster, Anderson, Horry, Greenville, and Aiken counties.
The awards are as follows:
Dorchester Habitat for Humanity - $10,750.00 for the construction of a three-bedroom home located in Summerville to be occupied by a lower income family below 80 percent but above 50 percent of the county median income.
Appalachian Development Corporation - $7,157.60 for the rehabilitation of a two-bedroom home in Pickens to house a very low income family at or below 50 percent of the county median income.
Edisto Habitat for Humanity, Inc. - $16,289.58 for the construction of two-3-bedroom homes in Orangeburg to house lower income families.
Community Assistance Provider, Inc. - $11,500.00 for the acquisition of a three- bedroom home, and, $25,703.65 for the rehabilitation of a two-bedroom home and three bedroom home. These homes located in Columbia will be occupied by low and very low-income families.
Lowcountry Community Development Corporation (CDC) - $20,000 for the acquisition of a three-bedroom home in Bluffton to house a lower income family.
Camden First Community Development Corporation (CDC) - $50,347.00 for the rehabilitation of two 4-bedroom homes and a two-bedroom home located in Bethune and $17,250.00 for the rehabilitation of a four-bedroom home in Camden. These homes will be occupied by very low-income families.
United Methodist Relief Center - $64,500 for the acquisition of two 3-bedroom homes and a four-bedroom home located in Awendaw to house low and very low-income families.
Edisto Vision 2010, Inc. - $16,283.46 for the rehabilitation of a three-bedroom home on Edisto Island to house a lower income family.
Northeastern Corridor of Orangeburg CDC - $29,850.55 for the rehabilitation
of three 3-bedroom homes and $16,609.45 for the rehabilitation of a two-bedroom home. These homes, located in Orangeburg, will be occupied by very low income families.
Nehemiah Corporation - $300,000.00 for the construction of six 3-bedroom homes located in Aiken to be occupied by special needs individuals.
Voorhees Denmark Community Development Corp. (CDC) - $11,295.30 for the rehabilitation of a four bedroom home located in Denmark to house a very low income family.
Wateree Community Actions, Inc. - $49,196.85 for the rehabilitation of 3 three- bedroom homes located in Coward, Lake City, and Alcolu and $28,763.96 for the rehabilitation of 2 four-bedroom homes located in Marion and Gable. These homes will be occupied by very low-income individuals or families.
Ashton Trace, L.P. - $500,000 for the construction of a 32 unit apartment complex located in Manning to house very low income elderly individuals.
Azalea Gardens, LLC - $500,000 for the construction of a 36-unit apartment complex in Lancaster to be occupied by very low-income families.
Brogan Avenue Apartments, LLC - $500,000 for the construction of a 31 unit apartment complex located in Anderson for low and very low-income families.
Home Alliance, Inc. - $250,000 for the rehabilitation of a 25 unit apartment complex
in Myrtle Beach to be occupied by very low-income families.
Homes of Hope, Inc. - $314,250 for the acquisition of 8 single family three-bedroom homes in Greenville to be occupied by very low income large families.
Capital for the Housing Trust Fund is generated by the documentary stamp tax. Proceeds awarded by the Trust Fund cannot exceed approximately 50 percent of the total development cost of the project and can only be used to serve households that are at or below 80 percent of the county median income.
