Housing Authority Makes Over $300,000 in Trust Fund Awards - 1/29/2003

The Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority recently approved $328,622.62 in Trust Fund awards at their regular monthly meeting. These awards are for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and/or construction of 16 properties throughout Orangeburg, Charleston, Greenwood, Horry, Aiken, Sumter, Lee, Chesterfield, Florence, and Newberry counties.

The awards are as follows:

Southeastern Housing Foundation - $9,505.00 for the acquisition of a two-bedroom home in Orangeburg to be occupied by a lower income family above 50 percent but below 80 percent of the county median income.

Greenwood Area Habitat for Humanity - $11,500.00 for the construction of a three-bedroom home in Greenwood to be occupied by a very low-income family at or below 50 percent of the county median income.

United Methodist Relief Center - $16,500.00 for the acquisition of a two-bedroom home located in Mt. Pleasant, $20,000 for the acquisition and rehabilitation of a three-bedroom home located in McClellanville, and $12,977 for the rehabilitation of two (three and four bedroom) homes in Cheraw. These homes will house low and very low-income individuals or families. 

Habitat for Humanity for Horry County, Inc. - $11,500.00 for the construction of a three-bedroom house in Longs to be occupied by a very low-income family.

Santee Lynches Affordable Housing and CDC - $8,125.00 for the rehabilitation of a three-bedroom home located in Wedgefield; $14,344.00 for the rehabilitation of two-2-bedroom homes in Sumter; $7,765.00 for the rehabilitation of a three-bedroom home in Mayesville; and, $6,656.62 for the rehabilitation of a four-bedroom home in Dalzell. Very low-income elderly families or individuals will occupy these homes.

Community Development & Improvement Corporation f/k/a New Labor - $11,500.00 for the rehabilitation of a two-bedroom home in Aiken to house a very low-income disabled individual.

Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs Board -  $140,725.00 for the acquisition of two 4-bedroom homes in Florence for very low-income disabled individuals.

Ruth S. Pugh Foundation, Inc. - $57,525.00 for the acquisition of a four-bedroom home in Newberry to be occupied by very low-income disabled individuals.

Proceeds awarded by the Trust Fund cannot exceed approximately 50 percent of the total development cost of the project and can only be used to serve households that are at or below 80 percent of the county median income.
