Find a foreclosure counselor near you: NeighborWorks America developed a directory called “find a foreclosure counselor” to help homeowners in danger of losing their homes locate a local, HUD-approved counseling agency for free, trusted help.
Call your mortgage company directly: The website hopenow.com, maintained by the HOPE Now Alliance, has a handy search tool to help you get in touch with your mortgage servicer. If your mortgage company is not in the database, you can call 888.995.HOPE (4673) for help with contacting your servicer.

Homeowners facing foreclosure are losing their money – and their homes – to loan modification scams. Information is your best defense. Payments submitted after 8:00 PM EST may be posted the next business day. To avoid late charges, the online payment must be complete by 8:00 PM EST on the 16th of the month. To avoid being reported to the Credit Bureau, the online payment must be done by 8:00 PM on the last business day of the month. Payments are not processed on weekends or holidays.
Confirmation Number: The confirmation number you receive at the end of the online payment transaction is confirming you made a payment on the online system not that the payment cleared your bank.
