John Brown
Director of Internal Audit & Quality Control

In October of 2022, John Brown joined SC State Housing Finance & Development Authority (SC Housing) to lead our Internal Audit department. In January of 2024, John Brown was named Director of Internal Audit & Quality Control, where he provides leadership and direction for internal audits, quality control reviews, internal controls, risk management and fraud investigations.

Brown has over 20 years experience in audit, risk management and quality control. He started his career as a United States Navy Chief, qualified as a Quality Assurance Officer for Aegis Systems and QC Team Leader for NAVSEA platforms. After 25 years of active service, Brown served as the Global Audit Manager for Tasnee Petro-Chemicals Co. (Forbes Top 100 Company) providing management and oversight to lead several Internal Audit Departments located throughout the globe. Prior to coming to SC Housing, Brown served as an Employer Tax Services and Fraud Auditor for the Department of Employment and Workforce (SCDEW).

Brown holds a Master’s Degree in business from Southern New Hampshire University and undergraduate degrees from the University of Maryland and Excelsior College of New York in business and finance. He is a graduate of the Navy senior enlisted academy and has been a long-time member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and is an active member of the SC State Internal Auditors Association. Brown holds several certifications in fraud analytics, ISO 9001, SAP auditing, Quality Control and the ISA.

Brown is a native of Boston, Massachusetts and is an avid sports follower and loves the outdoors.
